Trident technology to be featured at Seabed Minerals 2026 in Bergen
Trident will take part in the international Seabed Minerals 2026 conference, held from 24–26 March 2026 in Bergen, Norway, with an expert presentation included in the official conference programme.
Bramley Murton from the National Oceanography Centre (NOC) will deliver the presentation, titled “Towards a long-term autonomous system to monitor in-situ disturbances arising from deep water seafloor industrial activity.” The talk will highlight the development of Trident’s long-term autonomous monitoring system for deep-sea industrial activities. Designed to operate in extreme and remote seafloor environments, the system provides continuous, in situ environmental monitoring, supporting real-time data analysis and impact assessment to ensure transparent and responsible oversight.
The conference provides a meeting place for industry professionals, environmental groups, policymakers, geoscientists, and other stakeholders to exchange knowledge, discuss emerging technologies, and understand how countries like Norway are preparing for the first licensing rounds for deep-sea minerals. By featuring Trident technology, the event highlights practical solutions for reliable, transparent, and accountable oversight of the expanding deep-sea industrial sector.
As demand for critical minerals continues to outpace supply, and with value chains concentrated in a few regions, the race toward deep-sea production has already begun. Countries leading in technology and knowledge for seabed exploration are moving rapidly, making responsible monitoring and data collection essential for scientific, industrial, and regulatory stakeholders.
